Yukta Mookhey was born on October 7, 1977, in Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra, India, into a Sindhi-speaking family. Her father, Inderlal, worked as the managing director of ‘Ragz Clothing Company’ and currently works as a real-estate agent. Yukta’s mother, Aruna, owns and runs a grooming salon called ‘Swiss Chalet’ in Santa Cruz, Mumbai.

She lived in Dubai, U.A.E., for 7 years, when her father was posted there. She completed her primary education in Dubai. Her family moved back to India in 1986 and lived at Mahatma Gandhi Road, Mulund (West) in Mumbai.

She then attended ‘V.G. Vaze College’ in Mulund and graduated with a degree in zoology. She also studied fine arts for 3 years and did a diploma course in computers from ‘Aptech.’ Yukta has also been trained in Hindustani classical music for 3 years.

Yukta Mookhey’s personal life has been a topic of interest for many. She got married to Prince Tuli, a New York-based businessman, on September 7, 2008.

The couple has a son named Ahhrein Tuli. However, their marriage ended in a divorce in June 2014. Yukta had accused her husband and his family of subjecting her to domestic violence and harassment.

Yukta Mookhey’s rise to stardom began when she was crowned ‘Miss India World’ by ‘Femina’ and eventually became the fourth Indian to win the ‘Miss World’ pageant, in 1999. Like other pageant winners, Yukta, too, turned toward the film industry.

Her career began with a dance number in a Tamil movie, and she then starred in a few Hindi movies. Her first major release in Bollywood was the 2002 ‘Pyaasa’ opposite Aftab Shivdasani.

• In July 2013, Yukta Mookhey accused her husband and his family of subjecting her to domestic violence and harassment.
• She lodged an FIR under section 498A and 406 of IPC (Indian Panel Code).
• She also accused her husband, Prince Tuli, under IPC section 377 (unnatural sex).
• The couple obtained a consensual divorce in June 2014.The case is still ongoing.
