Chris Hemsworth

Born on August 11, 1983, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, Chris Hemsworth spent his childhood both in Melbourne and the Outback in Bulman, Northern Territory.

His parents, Leonie (née van Os), an English teacher, and Craig Hemsworth, a social-services counselor, raised him along with his brothers, Luke and Liam, who are also actors. Hemsworth attended high school at Heathmont College before his family moved back to the Northern Territory, and then a few years later to Phillip Island.

Hemsworth is married to Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, and the couple has three children together. The family leads a healthy lifestyle, often sharing their workouts and fitness routines on social media.

Hemsworth began his acting career in Australia, appearing in several television series. He rose to prominence playing Kim Hyde in the Australian television series Home and Away (2004–2007) before beginning a film career in Hollywood.

His first Hollywood appearance was in the science fiction blockbuster Star Trek (2009), but it was his titular role in the superhero blockbuster Thor (2011) which propelled him to prominence worldwide.

Hemsworth’s portrayal of Thor in the MCU established him among the world’s highest-paid actors. His other notable film roles include Star Trek (2009), Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), Red Dawn (2012), Blackhat (2015), Men in Black: International (2019), and Extraction (2020).

Hemsworth’s most critically acclaimed films include The Cabin in the Woods (2012) and Rush (2013), where he portrayed James Hunt. He has won several awards, including the Australian Star of the Year in 2016 and the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Action Movie Star in 2022.
